Ficus elastica, also known as the rubber tree, belongs to the mulberry family and is originally from India and Indonesia. There, the rubber tree can grow up to 25 meters tall. In Germany, it was a particularly popular houseplant in the 1980s. For the past few years, it has been experiencing a comeback. The variety "Tineke" is a very easy-care type that, with its leathery, green-and-white variegated leaves, makes a particularly good specimen plant in an office or living room.
